Today has been a fabulous birthday filled with family, food and fun. My mom joined the kids and I and took us all out to lunch. Then we did a little shopping.
She brought these delicious little individual bundt cakes for my birthday treat, from this great little shop called "Nothing bundt Cakes."
It was also a gorgeous sunny autumn day. So all in all absolutely perfect.
Many blessings to you on this fantastic day-Kate
The first hue of dawn tints the edges of the sky like a water color canvas. You're burrowed in a mound of too warm blankets desiring to hibernate like a woodland creature. Resigning yourself you yawn, stretch then peek open your eyes wondering, "What amazing inspiration shall the world bring to me today." The earth hums back "We shall see."

Next Project
So I will have this crochet project done before the end of the week. It is a special project for my first born boy.
Any guesses for what it will be?
It is crochet with an extra bulky, very soft chenille in vibrant colors. It works up super fast. I just began it on Sunday.
Stay tuned for the completed product.

Getting back to work.
It has been a long while once again. Lately I have been working on a number of yarn projects and finally felt the push to share this one with all of you. Mom and girl matching fingerless mitts.
I have a massive yarn stash that has needed some attention for a while. In using some of the stashed yarn I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn some new stitches too. I needed the project to be a practical one though. One that I would either keep and use or be proud to gift to someone else. I found this wonderful pattern on my favorite fiber site Ravelry. It is "Cabled Fingerless Mitts", by Hannah Cuviello. It has a fun and simple cable pattern done in a beautiful variegated washable wool.

They are done (well almost) just in time to keep our hands warm during this beautiful chilly wet autumn.
I have had so much fun with this project I have been inspired to dig into my stash again. So be on the lookout for more yarn projects posted here.
In the meanwhile on my quest to find new stitches I have come across two fun projects for my oldest two. One will be my girl's first crochet project and the other will be some superhero fun. So stay tuned for these.
Finally there will also be some Halloween costumes to come at the end of this month. They will be adorably spooky.
Of course this little one will be sure to have his sneaky fingers in on all the adventures.

First Day Back

Time a Little Tight
I am hard at work trying to complete a sewing contract. Which has left little time for completing other projects. I did manage to get one started though.
I found this dark blue shirt at a garage sale last summer and thought there was plenty of material to be able to make something new from it. I was not sure how I wanted to convert it though. Tonight I figured it out. I decided the width of the shirt was probably such that it would work just fine if rotated to become the length. I took the bottom strip off and cut it to fit the new bottom hem.
Tomorrow I just have to sew up the sides and shoulders and decide if I want sleeves. Then reattach the bottom hem, figure out what to do with the neck opening and I should have a new shirt to enjoy this summer.
Stay tuned tomorrow when I reveal the final product.
Many blessings to you this fine night.--Kate

Teriyaki Chicken
When I found this recipe it was for oven baked teriyaki wings. I never did make the wings, but I have used the sauce many times now as a marinade. I would not say that it really tastes much like teriyaki, but it is a delicious Asian inspired sauce.
Teriyaki Chicken Marinade.
Ingredients:
Melt butter in a small-medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the stevia, wine, tamari, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, salt ,pepper, and garlic powder and mix. In a large bowl, mix the chicken with the sauce. It is a thin sauce. Cook chicken how you like.
Enjoy!
Many blessings on this fine night.--Kate
P.S. Sorry no pictures yet. We always seem to gobble this dish down before I remember to take the pictures. I will post some as soon as we make this meal again.--K
